Unwavering Heart

When he arrived and saw the grace of God [that was bestowed on them], he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with an unwavering heart to stay true and devoted to the Lord.

Pray for clarity and devotion to the leading of the Holy Spirit

As we look deeper in Mark 5, we begin to see the country and the region – Decapolis and the Hellenistic Culture. It would be beneficial for the Bible student to learn more about the context of the events mentioned in the chapter, as to grasp the type of spiritual giants we are dealing with.

Now after the man was healed, he wanted to follow Jesus. Mark 18:5 tells us that as Jesus was stepping into the boat (how specific), and the man wanted to become a disciple, but Jesus did not allow it. The man was begging/pleading, yet he was sent back to share his testimony. He obeyed and begun his public ministry, and all the people were astonished (Mark 5:20). The Bible says ‘all’. When the Bible says all, I think of all. Astonished is defined as ‘great surprise and wonder’.

How often do you want to do something, and God says ‘no’? Have you found yourselves asking and begging and pleading, and there is no answer? Many are called but few are chosen. We all have different callings and it’s up to God to use them as he finds fitting.

I don’t know about you, but I want all!! All that God has for me, even if I need to step back from the boat. Hallelujah.

Daily Confession: My way is not always the best, but God’s way is perfect.

Thank you, Holy Spirit.
