Every Good Work

October 24

And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.

– 2 Corinthians 9:8 AMP

Pray for abundance of blessings for every good work and act of charity

Paul speaks about self-sufficiency in Him. In whom? In the Body of Christ? In the Holy Spirit? In the Word of God? In Him we are self-sufficient. It has been established by the word of God, so it’s not only possible; it’s factual, according to 2 Corinthians 9:8.

Mark 5, starts with the statement that the disciples came on the other side of the sea. They entered a different territory. As soon as they stepped in (Mark 5:2), the man who was possessed with unclean spirit met Him. This tells us that the man habitation was on the coastline, in close proximity to the dock (or where the boats were being kept).

Let’s consider the difference between Peter being called, and the man in Mark 5 being sent.

In Matthew 4:18-20, Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, and seeing Simon (his other name was Peter) and Andrew, his brother, he said to them “Follow me and I will make you fish for men!” At once they left their nets and followed Him (Matt. 4:20).

When they were called, they were busy with the nets, there were boats and all kinds of fishing tools around them. There was a change of name (from Simon to Peter), and a change of occupation, from fisherman to fish for man. This shows a type of transformation. The process started with the word spoken by Jesus, and it affected their entire lives. That would be considered by some, as an encounter.

Furthermore, after the unclean spirit left him, the man in Mark 5, was sitting down, clothed and in his right mind. It’s an image of a man of authority, a decision maker, a gatekeeper if you will. This too was a life-changing encounter.

Daily Confession: The word of God causes transformation

Thank you, Holy Spirit.
