Consecrated Life

Faith Devotionals

October 28

for He delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life—a life set apart—a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit—we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago],

Pray for the consecrated life according to God’s purpose and grace

Mark 5 gives an account of the man with unclean spirit. Night and day he was constantly screaming and shrieking among the tombs and on the mountains, and cutting himself with [sharp] stones (Mark 5:5).

When we live a life on purpose, we follow the ways of God, not the ways of man. God’s ways are much higher than our ways, and this applies to a life lived on purpose. The man in Mark 5 was not acting in a natural human strength; there is no person that can break chains and shackles in pieces in his own strength. It took a higher power.

How do we face higher power in our own strength? We don’t. We must run to Jesus. It takes maturity to recognize the type of mountain we are dealing with, and surrender to Jesus, so that his power can begin to operate in us. This is why we must study the Word of God diligently and daily to be able to face the challenges in life.

Daily Confession: I face my circumstances with God, not in my own strength.

Thank you, Holy Spirit.
