Mark chapter 5 takes the word business to a wider context. It shows the unclean spirit and his legion of demons in business with the man and the people in the region. Here is one man full of demons, hiding in the shadows, practicing divination of some sort. The disapproval of the community of Jesus shows that the people were much more interested in the demonic practices than in the salvation power of Jesus.

The book of Revelation talks about the fallen Babylon, a demonic kingdom hosting nations who drink the wine of her adulteries (Revelation 14:8). The book of Revelation is the book describing the return of Jesus, so while we are waiting on his return, we are facing Babylonian’s kingdom. The demonic realm is in full operation in the contemporary society, as much as it was during the time Jesus walked on earth.

As we step into the business world, we are to begin to understand the type of competition we are going to face on the marketplace. It’s inevitable that we encounter Babylon’s agents. Who are they and how do we compete with them on the marketplace? Money answers all things (Ecc. 10:19), so why not begin right there.

The word of God is our source, and the first thing that comes to mind after reading Proverbs 11:1 is dishonest business practices. False balance and dishonest business practices are the red flags of the demonic kingdom.

Mark chapter 5 shows that Jesus had the victory over the unclean spirit before the cross. Jesus secured the ultimate victory on the cross. Jesus is coming back again. So business shouldn’t be a challenge for a born-again believer, simply because Jesus is. In the world of finance, financial planning is fundamental; it deals with investments and securing financial stability for the future. It is without a doubt a breathing ground for the Babylon’s agents. What better way to capture people’s destinies than to control their finances? So our first priority on the marketplace is to release the blood of Jesus and His salvation power, and capture the financial marketplace. We’ll use a very specific verse to secure this territory: For you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts (Malachi 4:3).

There are three main points that we’ll address during our victorious journey through the financial marketplace: the destruction of altars, breaking images, and cutting down groves. First we’ll call on the Lord, according to Jeremiah 33:3 and ask for the great and mighty things, which we know not.

We are going to issue an order of total destruction over the wicked nations. We’ll take away their power; tear down their high places, and release the fire of the Holy Ghost against them all according to Jeremiah 1:10. Only the remnant will emerge after the destruction is complete.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank you for destroying false balances and dishonest business practices and for helping your children advance the Kingdom of God through accurate scale on the marketplace.
