The strongholds of witchcraft must be destroyed. It begins with purging our consciousness. By letting Jesus in our hearts, we also give permission to the Holy Spirit to do his work. The Word of God gives access to the spirit of God to work in the life of a believer.

A purge of our heart’s desires leads to the destruction of every tree that does not bear good fruit. Our hopes and desires are flesh-driven and as apostle Paul said, the flesh is an enmity of the spirit. The Spirit wars with the flesh (Galatians 5:17).

When our spirit is exposed to the spirit of witchcraft, the battle is on spiritual level. Here we need the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). We not only face battles within, our flesh and its desires, we are also battling outside forces, such as the spirit of witchcraft.

The spirit of witchcraft is not limited to our human understanding. It is a spiritual power that has its trademarks: manipulations, rebellion, desire to control, evil talk, sowing deception, etc. Let’s consider some of them based on Proverbs 6:16-19:

• Haughty Eyes
• Lying tongue
• Hands that shed innocent blood
• A heart that devises wicked schemes
• Feet that are quick to rush into evil
• A false witness who pours out lies
• A person who stirs up conflict

Here is the lying tongue. A tongue that speaks lies. Witchcraft than is full of lies. When we place our faith in witchcraft, we are directly entering the realm of lies. Witches and wizards are liars, because they believe in lies. How do we face witchcraft? We face and we fight witchcraft with truth. And the truth is found in the word of God. It’s the ultimate truth.

Here are some practical keys for overcoming witchcraft:

• Read the word of God daily
• Meditate on the word of God
• Speak the word of God
• Contemplate on the word of God
• Be willing and obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit
• Use caution when catching someone lying
• Be quick to forgive
• Be prayerful
• Examine the fruit and its tree

Prayer: Father, thank you for our divine weapons that are mighty in pulling down strongholds. Amen.
