The Fearful III

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Revelation 21:8

In a previous chapter, we saw groups of people who belong to Satan’s kingdom: those who intentionally serve him, those who ignore his existence, and those who are not aware of him.

We continue with our exploration of Hell. Here we don’t find money, or banks, or investment accounts; neither do we see insurance policies or pension funds. All who put their trust in saving accounts are only covered for a lifetime, not eternity. Nobody wants to live in poverty, but what is worse than poverty is eternity in Hell, and the second death, where one cease to exist. If fear of poverty separates you from following the will of God, then your place is in the Fearful. God can not be mocked, and He is just in all His ways. He gives us free will, but He also has mansions prepared for us (John 14:2-6). He has never ran out of real estate. Think of the bottomless pit, for example. As we can see in Revelation 21:8, Hell has a lake too, and not so lovely views.

Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). The word of God is not deceptive. Everything that one wants to know about eternity can be found in the Bible. If you choose to ignore it, that doesn’t change God’s ways. For those with no access to the Bible, God can judge for himself; but if you have free access to His Word and choose to ignore it, you will be held accountable.

Prayer: Father, as you open the gates of Hell before us, teach us how to walk in your ways, so that we may pass the test. Amen.
