There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord – Proverbs 21:30
All enemies of God can fall in this category – void of wisdom, understanding, and counsel. We are not to go against the will of God and in His sovereign will, He has allowed a place for His enemies. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t exercise our authority, when we have to, but we are to remember that people have a choice. We can disagree with their choice, but must respect their right to choose.
Our gift of discernment helps us to follow the will of God. It would be foolish to follow something that we don’t know. The fool says in his heart, there is no God (Psalm 14:1). So the choice of the unbelievers is the lack of faith, or the choice not to believe in God. There is unbelief, and then there is the choice not to believe. Everyone who chooses not to believe goes against the will of God and becomes a fool. Those who believe and trust that God is sovereign over their lives walk in wisdom, understanding, and counsel. They may not know the salvation power of Jesus, but they continually seek God’s will. The Old Testament is full of men and women who sought the will of God with all their hearts. In The New Testament, Jesus made this process much easier, as now we have the voice of God within us, as opposed to outside. We can hear Him, because He lives in us.
After we are saved, we can walk in the Authority of the Believer, that comes from within us. It’s no longer about the authority in the worldly seats, but our seat of authority is inside us, where Christ is seated, next to the Father. This changes the concept of authority all together. It is finished.
Prayer: Thank you, Holy Spirit. Amen.
