Good News Daily: The Overcomer

and darkness was on the face of the deep – Genesis 1:2

Walking in victory every day is good news indeed. For many of us who have lived under the authority of powers and rulers and principalities, the idea of freedom in Christ is foreign to us. God is a God of order, and as Christians we are called to walk in obedience to the earthly authorities, as unto the Lord; however, we enjoy freedom, regardless of our earthly status. Not only that but we set others free.

Through our freedom in Christ, we can no longer tolerate the dominion of satan and his fallen angels. They are now subject to us, and we are now learning to appropriate what is rightfully ours. Becoming an overcomer is a process. And it happens daily. It starts with faith, and works itself through every area of our life. Our victory is a daily walk and there is joy in freedom. As we receive victory every day, our joy increases daily until it gets to the fullness thereof, or until it overflows. Praise the Lord!

After Jacob left his father’s house, he spend years working for his uncle. It was a process of struggle, but also a process of becoming an overcomer. He left his home with nothing, not even a place to rest his head. The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head (Matthew 8:20). When it was time to return, Jacob had wives, children, servants and livestock. The blessing of Abraham was in full operation. He had come to a place of peace with Laban, with Essau, and had received a new name after wrestling with a mysterious man. He had become the nation of Israel.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for helping me become an overcomer. In Jesus Christ’s name, amen.
