You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind – Matthew 22:37

Kindness begins with God. Those who love God are kind to others because they understand and respect God. We reflect His nature when we are kind to others. You can not hate and be kind at the same time.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. – Matthew 5:11

Naturally we withdraw or feel disappointed when others don’t appreciate us, especially our acts of kindness towards them. But a real kind person does not expect anything in return. It simply gives. When we give out of kindness, our motives are pure. When we give a little or a lot, sometimes or often, now or never – our motives are the most important aspect of our giving. People give, expecting something in return. They give because others give. Or because they want to be seen by others. We give out of love or out of need. Whatever the case is, when we give, we give to God.

Father, let your kindness be seen through us. In Jesus Christ’s name, amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
