Turn from evil and do good – Psalm 34:14

We live under a paradigm of negative information. We read about the amount of people who died from unknown disease, from known diseases, from heart attacks, cancer, etc. But do we even know how many people are healed every day, every hour, every minute? Healed from diseases, viruses and bacterias that killed millions in the past? Recovered from broken limbs, from car accidents, from natural disasters?

When we hear “disease”, we immediately associate the word with death, suffering, pain, etc. Yet Jesus specifically said that some diseases and even death (such as the case of Lazarus) were for the glory of the Father. Our negative preconceptions are so dominant that we fail to see the goodness in our circumstances. Our immediate reaction is to assume the worst. Aside from the miraculous, there are also negative thought patterns that we need to heal from. They are deeply rooted in our old nature. These are the thoughts of doubt, unbelief, confusion, etc.

Our minds need healing, not just our bodies. Habits of gratitude, appreciation, and kindness can replace the old negative patterns, as long as we become intentional about them.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for being my protection today. Help me appreciate your presence more. In Jesus Christ’s name, amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
