Have Peace: Find Comfort

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. – John 14:18

The peace of God surpasses all understanding. He is the God of all comfort. He knows each and every tear we have ever shed. He collects them. He is not far from us. On the contrary, he is ever-present in times of trouble.

But he resists the proud. Pride is what pushes Him away. We can not be proud and comforted at the same time. We must submit to Him and be humbled. We must acknowledge our need of comfort in order to receive it. He is a gentle God, He will not force himself on us.

Have you tried to comfort someone? A friend, a stranger, a loved one? You can not comfort them if they are not listening. When they choose to focus on the hurt and refuse to hear the words of healing, they would not be able to overcome the pain. We must come to the understanding that our God is bigger than those who hurt us. He is bigger than our pain, our disappointment, our past, and everything that steals our joy. He is the God of ALL comfort.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I choose your comfort over my pride. Amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
