Love is not easily angered – 1 Corinthians 13:5
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19) Those who walk in love are not easily angered. The reason being – love knows the Father. We are called to walk on the path of love and experience God’s goodness. Anger becomes a stumbling block when it’s not triggered by love. The Bible says be angry and sin not (Eph. 4:26). There is a righteous anger.
Easily angered is an anger not tested by patience. Love is patient. An outburst of an emotionally-charged anger is not in line with the word of God. God is constantly angry with sin. Nothing can change that. Sin not – it’s a command. Before Cain took Abel’s life, God instructed him to exercise dominion over sin. Failing to do so caused him the life of his brother. Sin made Cain the first murder in the Bible.
When anger causes you to stumble, find ways to release it through the word of God. We wrestle not against flesh and blood – people are not the issue. Not easily angered means, taking some time to consider the real problem. It is an invitation to ponder and seek God’s counsel on the issue. Sometimes the root of the problem is in our own hearts, and in other cases there is a spiritual force behind the person/people making us angry.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I will come to you in prayer before allowing anger to ruin my emotional life. Amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
