Love Daily: Truth

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. – 1 Corinthians 13:6

Love does not delight in evil – a loving person cares for others and does not want to see them suffer. Even when we make mistakes, as soon as we confess the wrong that was done, love forgives and is quick to forget. The voice of fear sows doubt, regrets, condemnation, etc. But perfect love casts out fear.

When a person walks in love, s/he does not want to dwell on the past mistakes because they are hurtful. Love does not delight in evil – evil makes s/he feel bad. It brings sadness. We are free to choose to forgive and forget, never to look back on what was. After all we all make mistakes, but not all can forgive and forget.

A confession means coming to a place of truth. It’s a place of understanding and coming to terms with the reality of truth. We may hide from it all we want, but the truth will always be there. We can not escape from it. It is better to learn to confess and speak the truth early in life. Parents must be diligent to teach children to value the truth. It would be better to understand its value, rather than associate confessing truth with punishment. This is the reality of the New Testament. Jesus was punished for all the wrong that was done, that is done, and that will ever be done.

Father, I may never understand the works on the cross, but I am willing to accept the finality of it. Thank you, Jesus.
