Patience To Pull Down

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds – 2 Corinthians 10:4

Have you seen a gun or any form of a weapon? I have. When I was little I was playing hide and sick with my brother and my cousin, when we found a gun that my grandfather had hidden. It was meant for hunting. We took a look at it with reverence, unable to touch it. Yeah we’ve seen shootings on TV and we knew how a gun works – just pull the trigger against the target. Simple enough.

My cousin was curious and took hold of it thinking that my grandfather wouldn’t leave bullets in it. But I froze in panic and wanted nothing to do with the gun. The thought of what would happen to him if something goes wrong was troubling. This is what spiritual warfare looks like. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (1 Corinthians 13:11) Patience is needed to learn and master our spiritual weapons. If we don’t spend time in the word of God, learn and grow in our understanding of spiritual realities, our spiritual enemies will destroy us.

Lord Jesus, thank you for being my savior. I want to be patient and wait for your instructions in every area of my life. Amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
