Love always protects – 1 Corinthians 13:7
It is natural to respond with hate towards those who hate you. Have you witness a verbal exchange of hurtful words? I have and it is not fun. We are not to respond to a bully with bulling. We are called to step up, to come up higher, to refuse to walk on the same path as those who hate us. We should not meet our enemies with hate, but with food and drinks. If your enemies are hungry, give them something to eat (Romans 12:20). Whoever comes to the house of God, comes under his protection.
When those who hate you come to you, they expect you to hate them back. But when you respond with care and concern about their spiritual condition, you bring them to a different place. Your care comes from the understanding that we wrestle no against flesh and blood – people are not the problem; it’s the spirit behind them that causes the problem. We are looking for the spiritual root, not at the manifested presence of hate. Knowing that satan is the spiritual force, we don’t fight the person, because the person is a vessel that satan uses. Today he may use your neighbor, tomorrow a friend, next week a frustrated colleges, the list goes on. When you tapped into the spiritual flow, you can uproot the seed of hate, instead of falling into constant arguments, blame, condemnation, and ultimately self-defeat.
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you. (Luke 6:27)
Father, in the name of Jesus, I choose to love my enemies and do good to those who hate me. Amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
