Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men: For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up higher; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen. – Proverbs 25:6-7
Most people want the spotlight. It’s as if success is fully realized once they reach the point of fame and recognition.
The wisdom of God, however, does warn us that preparation is more important than recognition. When Joseph met Pharaoh’s trusted men in prison, he met two destinies. The cup bearer and the chief baker. We don’t know why these men were sent to prison, but we know that one continued with his office, while the other was executed. The access to men of power and greatness is life-threatening if it’s given to unprepared, immature, and insecure men or women. It can be a blessing or a curse.
Humility will always win over pride. If you want to be famous than make sure the grace of God covers you. Don’t be like a drunk fool running after something you can not handle on your own. Satan too has his people in high places. A simple meal with love is better than a feast where there is hatred. (Proverbs 15:17)
Father, in the name of Jesus, teach me to choose wisely. Help me to recognize when pride becomes a hindrance to my destiny. In Jesus Christ’s name, amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
