To be sure, some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of good will. – Philippians 1:15
Are you the type of person who constantly questions the motives of others? This too can be a form of self-righteousness that steals your joy. Paul made an observation but his conclusion was peaceful. He understood that when people are inspired, they emulate the success of others. Some do it out of envy and jealousy, but others have good intentions. Either way is fine. Let not the actions of others steal your joy! Be at peace with them and try to nurture healthy relationships using wisdom and godly principles.
Our motives matter. When we are still babes in Christ we can run after doctrines and teachings that don’t align with the word of God. We might have the best intentions, but if the teachings are wrong, the fruit they produce can cause problems. The beauty of maturation is that it happens naturally. Let’s not rush into any conclusion before the time is right. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit is our helper and his guidance will show the places that need purging, pruning, and uprooting. The beginnings are fun, and the process lasts a lifetime. Be content with where you are and enjoy the ride to wherever the next might be.
Father, in the name of Jesus, you have designed unique experiences for your children. Thank you for my gifts and callings. Help me overcome the temptation to judge others before the time is right. Amen.
