Acts Of Kindness: Day 10

These preach out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; – Philippians 1:16

It’s almost unthinkable that we can defend anything with kindness. But Paul is clearly confirming that he was appointed not after the will of men, but by the will of God. Kindness is the will of God and when we act in kindness, we follow God’s example.

To live is Christ, and to die is gain. This was Paul’s bold position and all who want to live as Christians, are expected to die to themselves. You can’t kill a dead man. To die to your flesh is to die to everything you’ve ever lived for – family, country, houses, money, career, etc. It is a privilege to die for God, a privilege reserved for the few chosen ones. Not all men have the same access to the word of God. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. (Revelation 22:15) Calling yourself a Christian does not make you one. Only God can qualify those who are his. And kindness is his will.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28) Eternity is what God gives to his children.

Father, in the name of Jesus, help me remain kind to others even when my flesh wants to act otherwise. Amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
