my peace I give unto you – John 14:27
Jesus defeated satan with “it is written“, but we also know what God says in the Bible. When God speaks to us directly, we are to listen. God speaks and when he does, the creation responds. We are part of the creation. We must listen. If we are not sure what God says, we are to open the Bible and find what is written. If we choose not to listen to what he has to say, God is not obligated to protect us from the fruit of disobedience.
There are things we must crucify. Hurry is one of them. Rush is one of them. Worry is one of them. The peace of God is not necessary an absence of war, because we are in constant war with evil. There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked. (Isaiah 48:22) We war with the enemy, we war with unbelievers, we war with other believers who walk in disobedience. We war with vices, we war with spirits, we war with the fruits of others, we war with the flesh, we war with our own desires.
When we war, our weapons are not carnal, but mighty for pulling down strongholds and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. (2 Corinthians 10:4) Anything that speaks and contradicts what God says must be pulled down and crucified. Any voice that comes against the voice of God must be silenced. And when it does, we experience the peace that surpasses ALL understanding.
Father, in the name of Jesus, let any voice that does not come from you be silenced. I want to hear you clearly and continuously. Amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
