For God is my witness, how deeply I miss all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:8
The affection of Christ is a result of our walk with Christ. We represent Christ to others and when we approach them with the affection of Christ Jesus, we do it in a way that speaks about Christ himself. It’s how we witness about he who is, who was, and is to come.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. (John 3:16) Let’s pause for a moment – God has a son. Not only God exists, but he has a son. It does take a stretch of our imagination to think that we can grasp the idea of God, let alone his son. The notion of the son makes many religious people mad, because the religious mind is at war with the son.
We are called to be kind to people – to all of them; those who are religious, and those who are atheists. They both need Jesus, because he is the only way to the Father. Every other door, no matter how religiously correct might be, is leading to error and ultimately to hell.
Have you met a religious person recently? If you haven’t, go to a temple and speak with the people there. Witness to people in religious organizations. We get so caught up with saving the prodigal son, that we forget for the son who is in the father’s house.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help us remain kind to people who believe to know the Father, when you specifically instruct us that Jesus is the door to the Father. In Jesus Christ’s name, amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
