be pure and blameless – Philippians 1:9

Kindness does not blame others. It teaches them to do better. If you commit to be a kind person, you will be exposed to unkind people who do unkind things. Learn to forgive. If someone hurts you even after being kind, continue on the path of kindness and you will leave an impression on them.

Wisdom helps us learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others. We are not to get stuck in regrets or in blaming others for their mistakes. We all make mistakes. But we can choose to forgive ourselves and others. And remain blameless. A simple “I am sorry for what I did or for what I have done” is sufficient to close a door to hurt and blame.

If you find difficult to apologize, practice and become good at it. With time you will become sincere, because you’ll realize what went wrong.

Practical Step: I Am Sorry Card

Make an “I Am Sorry” card and leave it where it’s easy to see. When something goes wrong, write an “I am Sorry” statement and practice it until you are ready to say it to the person who needs to hear it. You can finish with “I can do better next time.” Amen.
