Fix your thoughts on what is honorable – Philippians 4:8

Honor is usually associated with a public recognition. But the Bible says “honor your mother and your father” (Ex. 20:12). There is a difference between the public display of honor and the privacy of honoring others at home.

This is why think on whatsoever is honorable brings us to the small picture stuff, or the everyday living. No matter how successful we are, we remain someone’s son or daughter and there is nothing that can change it. Calling our moms and dads, sending cards, flowers, bringing a doze of encouragement, sharing a nice message on social media, are all small acts of kindness and showing honor to our parents.

There are all kinds of bad news around the world, but these are the giants in the land. The good news is – we still have our family and can share goodness all year around and not just on the holidays.

Get creative in showing honor to your family. The good thing about it is nobody will judge you if you make a mistake. You can practice showing honor at home, and who knows – one day you might become a public display of honor to others!
