and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” – Acts 1:11
Many expect to receive from God and turn away from people. There are nations that prefer to stay silent and avoid unnecessary attention. Their culture protects them from the harmful influences of the world. Jesus could have been born in the family of the Roman emperors with statues, power, and influence over lands and nations. Yet, Jesus was born in a manger in a family in a remote province of the greatest empire in the world. This was the son of God among men.
In our own understanding we can not perceive what is big and what is small in the eyes of God. Our small acts of kindness may be seen as much bigger than the glory of men. Our generosity may be weighted not by the 10% of our tights and offerings but by the kind word we have spoken over someone who is hurting. I believe God accepts our buildings with favor, but what about the temple in your soul? Do you love your neighbor as yourself? Kindness is not learnt in school but in the presence of men and women. It’s the love for others that opens our hearts and makes us kind to others.
PERSONAL APPLICATION: Do you love your neighbor?
