Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life or by death. – Philippians 1:20
The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God, but Paul shows us that God is to be honored by life and by death. There are no good works apart from God, as God is always good, and those who seek eternal rewards on the bases of their good works, good works that do not glorify God, will be faced with the word of God.
The Word of God is to teach. It teaches that no good works exist apart from God. An unbeliever can not produce good works, because s/he does not walk with God. If a man or a woman has no God, they have no good in them. They are not going to have the eternal rewards because they must first hear the Word Of God, and the word of God will judge what is from the flesh and what is from the Spirit. Whatever is from the flesh will be destroyed – good or evil, as it is fleshly. The Spirit does not tolerate flesh. This is why we often hear of new-born, it is because the old passes away, God arises and takes us to a different place, making us completely new. Yesterday is gone, the past is gone, and there is no flesh that can face the spirit.
We can not honor God in our flesh, only in the spirit, because God is a spirit and he is to be worshiped in spirit and in truth. The truth is found in His Word, and the Holy Spirit makes it alive. Reading the Bible without the Holy Spirit is fruitless. We can honor God by life and by death. By life, in a matter of living, but also by death, because God can use our death for his honor. Only he can decide how and when to die, but we can commit to honor him in any circumstance to the best of our abilities.
