Jesus Daily: Honor

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God’s will, and Timothy our brother: To the saints in Christ at Colossae, who are faithful brothers and sisters. Grace to you and peace from God our Father. – Colossians 1:1

Honoring our faithful brothers and sisters is part of the will of God. Paul was made a minister and overseer of the early church (Colossians 2:23). His letters to the churches are full of instructions. He had reports that he was reviewing and giving feedback to. This is the office of the elders of the church.

It seems that Paul was pleased with the church of Colossae, as he praised their faithfulness. He kept on praying for them that they may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 2:9).

Our faithfulness and godly love will be tested and if approved will produce good works. We are to live in harmony and brotherly kindness. But we should also spend time in prayer learning about the will of God and be filled with His knowledge and spiritual understanding. We should pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ, especially for those who go through all kinds of trials and tribulations, so they too may be able to overcome. We must share our personal victories, making a way for those who come after us, so they too can make way for those who come after them.
