Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? (Isaiah 58:6-7) To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving an example, that you should follow his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Jesus Christ is the true God and eternal life. God is love and as he is so also are we in this world. And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. (2 John 1:6)
