In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. – Genesis 1:1 ESV
Learning to live in heaven, while on earth, is an ongoing process. What a joy it is to live under open heaven! If there is something worth learning, it is learning to live under open heaven.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1 ESV) This verse tells us that: a) Heaven is a created thing/being b) Heaven was created before the earth c) There is more than one heaven.
Since heaven(s) was created before the earth, it can be perceived as the future of the earth. On the temporary timeline, it is the future tense. Or in Biblical terms, heaven is connected to the prophetic, the spirit of prophecy. This leads us to the next point – does my future already exist in the heavens? And if it does, does it make a difference as to what I do here and now if it already exists?
In ancient cultures, people believed in destiny. Contemporary culture does not embrace the idea of destiny, because the so called spirit of the world is more relevant to our senses. But the world of God tells us that God has a will for us. His will for us is a) good, b) acceptable, and c) perfect and it’s up to us to discover and choose which will we want to receive and experience. In natural and legal terms, a will is a written document with instructions for inheritance. This of course reflects the ways of heaven. Our Father in His sovereignty has given us a choice over our inheritance, and has made available at least three options to choose from. I suppose satan too has added an option, since he is part of the heavenly beings and lives if not in the future, at least in some part of our heavenly existence.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, hollowed by thy name, thy kingdom come, thy perfect will be done in our lives on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus Christ’s name, amen. Thank you Holy Spirit.
