Have Peace: Healing

And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace and be sound from your affliction.” – Mark 5:34

Hospitals, doctors, nurses, pharmacies are essential for all of us, but the Bible takes it a step further. The realm of faith provides healing when all hope is lost. Not only that but healing from any affliction.

The woman with the issue of blood was physically ill. She saw doctors. It didn’t help. She was considered unclean and became an outcast. She lived under a stigma, under a curse, oppressed and afflicted. A homeless person. A nameless, faceless person.

Once she touched the mantle of Jesus, she became someone. We still don’t know her name, but we know that Jesus asked about her: “Who touched me?”. She. She was now a daughter. She was always someone’s daughter but her uncleanness made her untouchable, so she reached out and touched Jesus. And a virtue went out of him.

This is how faith works. When medical solutions are in no effect, faith reaches out for a solution outside the room, the norm, the acceptable, the thinkable. When the peace of God rules in our heart, and we come to the end of ourselves, to the end of this world and all its solutions, we become candidates for an encounter with the living God.
